Accountable

 

Obama intentionally fostered divisiveness and society is paying the price.

In a perfect world, the color of one’s skin would not become the primary identifying factor for individuals. In a perfect world, we would view all members of the human race as brothers and sisters. In a perfect world, nations would be united under the common cause of loving one another as Christ loved us. Unfortunately, our world is broken. Our world has neglected the One who created all things and we have become enamored of the things of this world. Our former and continuing divider in chief, Barack Obama, never ceases to use any opportunity to further divide the nation.

Prior to Obama’s 8 years in the White House, we were well on the way to overcoming our sordid past and evolving into a color-blind society. Once our first black president was elected, it was expected that the racial divide would finally become but a distant and faint memory. But Obama chose to shine a spotlight on our differences and revert back into the community agitator that he truly was. He used his bully pulpit to make certain that any and all racial animosity would be resurrected from the dead and positioned as a fundamental issue into the nation’s collective consciousness. “The police officer acted stupidly,” “If I had a son he would look like Trayvon.” For Obama, there were few incidents that race did not play a prominent role.

One of Jesus’ most important commands was forgiveness. Jesus said, “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. / But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours.” Matthew 6:14-15.

Our history is not pretty, but it is no worse than other nations. Slavery and racism were not confined to America. Those detestable acts were part and parcel of developing nations throughout the history of the world. Far too many have lost their lives for far less than what happened during our history. If we dwell upon the past, it can, not only define us, but it can overwhelm us, acting as a cudgel that destroys a right relationship with God.

Karmello Anthony, a 17-year-old African American high school student athlete, decided to enter a tent of an opposing team at a track meet armed with a knife. He was looking for an excuse to use his weapon. When asked to leave the tent by a 17 year old white student athlete Austin Metcalf, Anthony responded, “Touch me and see what happens.” After a brief altercation, Anthony stabbed Metcalf in the chest killing him. Anthony has since been convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison. The African American community, especially some of the leaders, are outraged, accusing “the white dominated system” of making an example of Anthony because he is black. When you enter hostile territory and arm yourself with a knife, your self-defense strategy is defective.

The Obama administration championed undeserved scrutiny against law enforcement and defended accused persons of color to recompense past grievances. The President of the United States defended those practices and directed his DOJ to enforce them. That has incited racially charged incidents into needless confrontations that often escalate to violence. The implementation of DEI and CRT further bolster this grievance and entitlement culture among minorities. Virtue-signaling liberal elites, predominantly white, use their influence to further the lie of an unjust, white male patriarchy that systemically instills racism at all levels of society. This helps create the aura of unaccountability for persons who believe they are resisting an unjust and unfair society.

Democrats manipulate those who accept the grievance culture narrative and who want “their fair share” as reparations for past injustices. Democrats can rely on receiving votes from the “underclass” that they have created for themselves by using government largesse as inducements. Even though most receiving those benefits remain trapped in poverty, they falsely believe that democrats are more compassionate and reward them with their votes.

Democrats are the ultimate manipulators. Democrats not only love hypocrisy; they revel in it. Democrats will use any strategy to gain and maintain power, no matter who they destroy in the process. For democrats, those foolish enough to vote them into office are just that, fools they care not about until it is election time.

Until democrats reject the leftist ideology that has overtaken their party, they must be rejected at the ballot box. Until democrats agree to uphold their oath of office, submit to the rule of law, and advocate for the truth, they cannot and must not hold positions of authority. It is time for our Constitutional Republic to be restored as one nation, under God. In order to have an environment where we can seek a better life, enjoy liberty, and be free to pursue happiness, democrats and their leftist cohorts must be soundly rejected.

Virtuosity

 

Our nation needs good people to step up and serve.

Virtuous, adjective; Conforming to moral and ethical principles; morally excellent; upright. Virtue is a trait that is desirable and often ascribed to one who exhibits those rare qualities that sets them apart from others. Virtuous individuals place others and their well-being ahead of their own. A virtuous individual will not only endeavor to do what is honorable, but they will refrain from acting inappropriately. Virtue signaling “wokeness” is not only disingenuous, it is the new form of hypocrisy. Just as the Pharisees in Jesus’ time prayed in public, so that all could see their great sacrifice and devotion to God, the modern “Woke” hypocrite performs acts that show that they are “down with the struggle”. Virtue signaling has become quite the artform as our culture devolves, accepting all manner of depravity as the new normal. Who will be first on the block to put up their “Black Lives Matter”, “Save the Planet”, or “Defund the Police” signs in a prominent place in their front yard? What company will answer the siren call of leftists decrying another nonsensical micro-aggression that yesterday was an accepted norm in society? What school district will kowtow to the latest new and innovative racist lie and incorporate it into their curriculum?

And yet, there are far too many that stand idly by while this, once what was the greatest nation on earth, slides uncontrollably into the abyss. Who really cares that this beacon of freedom is rotting on the vine, descending into anarchy and socialism? The clamor of pushback is far too muted. Yes, parents are beginning to step up against Critical Race Theory, but it is much too little, much too late, as this divisive ideology is already overtaking our schools. Democrats are emboldened to say and do anything that furthers their hold on power and the mainstream media covers those lies with unabashed adoration. Truth becomes what the left proclaims. Democrats, with their slim majority, work overtime to codify those lies into law. The mainstream media uses their “news” programs to amplify this new “truth.” Anyone attempting to correct their lies will be declared racist and fact checkers will shut them down from social media.

Condescension and superiority are the most glaring and pronounced traits of “wokeness”. “Look at me, I’m supporting ideology that will irrevocably change society, yet will actually render me unacceptable and irrelevant to the brave new world that I am enabling.” Children have become no more that coffee table conversation starters as parents brag about the fluidity of their child’s gender, failing to understand the irreparable harm being done to their young psyches. Sesame Street, the PBS children’s television program, decides it is appropriate to engage Drag Queens and promote gay puppets. Make sure your kindergartner pays attention when they are encouraged to experiment with homosexuality, transgenderism and any other sexual proclivity that is the next new thing to consider. Make sure your child is ready for counseling when they learn to hate themselves for their “white privilege” and to accept blame for wrongs done by persons that have no relation to them but for the color of their skin. During the Cold War, American citizens that were Soviet sympathizers, were actually reviled by the Politburo and referred to as “useful idiots”. Today’s useful idiots sympathize with leftists that want nothing more than to tear down society and rebuild it in their image, or what is better known as communism. Antifa is populated with well to do, mostly white college students that have no idea what is means to be a productive member of society. Their unbridled, yet unjustified anger rails against the economic system that affords them the ways and means to become professional anarchists.

Traditional societal norms such as promoting a good work ethic than can enable one to succeed is deemed racist. One must carefully consider whether or not to open the door for a woman in fear of being labeled sexist. Attending church or practicing one’s faith opens the practitioner to the charge of being hateful and practicing exclusivity. Pine for the days where neighbors looked out for one another, shared a mutual respect for the safety of their community and actually helped others in need and you are accused of harkening back to the days of Jim Crow and slavery. Love, unite and forgive your neighbor? The left’s love is divisiveness, retribution and to promote the hatred of your neighbor, unless he agrees with or looks like you.

The future of our nation is hanging in the balance. If the left succeeds in fundamentally transforming this great nation, there is no coming back. There is nowhere else to go where freedom reigns and everyone is free to chase their dreams. There will be nowhere to hide from the hate that the left spews and, like it or not, the vast majority of citizens in this nation are the targets of that hate. It is now more important than ever that good people sacrifice for this great nation and seek public office. There are far too many politicians that bend with the wind and forfeit their values and morals in order to appease. We need honest people that stand fast when faced with difficult decisions and choose to properly represent those they were elected to serve, no matter the pushback. The solution to what ails our society rests with you and I. if you decide to stand by and let this country fall, you will have to be the one to explain to your grandchildren how you stood idly by while their hopes and dreams were destroyed by the insanity that is the left. Will you answer the call to serve?

Everybody is Doing It!

I commute to 37th and Juneau Avenue to go to work. A part of that drive each day is down side streets of Milwaukee. One of the first things that caught my attention as I drove to and from work was the number of people who run red lights. I was shocked that when the light turned yellow, not one but two or more cars also went through the now very red light. I have watched countless cars, busses, and trucks fly through intersections after the light has clearly turned red. Everybody seems to be doing it. I was so conscious of it that for a while I actually made a game of counting the number of red light offenders per trip. As time went on, I no longer paid attention to cars pushing red lights; it became a common part of everyday life.

One of the characteristics of sin is that we know it is wrong. When we see it happening around us, initially we are amazed and pay attention to it. We can’t believe someone would actually do that! The Holy Spirit can communicate to our conscience and we heed the voice. But the danger of living in a sinful world is that eventually we become dulled to the sin around us. It is no longer shocking, if you see it enough it becomes a part of everyday life. That voice no longer whispers in our ear and we accept that sinful behavior as a common way of life.
 
One day I was running late and the light turned yellow. In a split second I had to make the choice to stop or to push the light like I see so many others do. Why shouldn’t I go through too, it would get me to my destination a minute or two earlier. There were no cars near the intersection and there were no officers in sight. I quickly looked in my rear view mirror to make sure no one was behind me, and I made the split second decision to stop. I was very tempted to go through the yellow light that would probably be red by the time I reached the crosswalk but something in my head said ”just because everyone is doing it, doesn’t make it right”.

One of the hardest challenges in living a Christian life is to live with integrity in all situations. The problem is that if you do something once, it makes it easier to do it twice and soon that little voice in your ear fades away and the sinful behavior becomes a way of life you no longer notice. Another example is if we are frequently exposed to an environment where people commonly use foul language, it is easy to pick up words here and there and at some point we don’t even notice the swear words spewing out of our own mouth. It has become normal and by doing it we fit in. The devil enjoys it when Christians act worldly, because it blurs the lines between Christians and non-Christians and makes those who profess to be Christians look like hypocrites.

When we make a conscious effort to not follow the norm of this world but to do what we know is right, even when it is not popular to do so, it is not easy. But it is then that something inside you begins to change. Your sensitivity to sin becomes heightened and you become more capable of making a choice to do the right thing. If a police officer is in view, most of those people wouldn’t go through the red light like they do when no one of authority sees them. But when you make the choice to do what is right no matter if you are alone or in the view of others it transforms your character. When this happens, the Holy Spirit’s voice becomes more noticeable and can guide you when you are not sure of what choice to make and it will strengthen you to do avoid the patterns of this world even when everyone is doing it.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
