Are we in the death throes of our Republic?

This nation has never been more divided than it is today, perhaps save for the Civil War. Are we on the cusp of another inner conflict, pitting the left versus normality? Joe Rogan thinks that we, as a nation, are at #7 of 9 necessary steps for this Republic to go down in flames. Glenn Beck makes the following argument.  Lower Court Judges need to stay in their lane. 

There once was a day where the judiciary was fair, unbiased and adhered to the rule of law. No more. Partisanship reigns, particularly among liberal judges. When the left accuses President Trump of being a "King," the actual kings are judges ruling, not on the merits of the case, but basing their decisions on how they "feel" about the law, respondent, or defendant. Leftist judges pervert justice.

Partisanship or political bias cannot affect any decisions from the judicial branch of government. The Constitution and enacted laws that are deemed constitutional are the only considerations when rendering an opinion. There are three co-equal branches of government, legislative, executive, and judicial. Each is granted limited authority with oversight among them. Since the dawn of Trump, co-equal no longer pertains. Democrats have filed lawsuit after lawsuit, challenging executive actions by President Trump. District court judges are granting themselves broad powers, taking jurisdiction where they have none, and injecting themselves into the political sphere. We first saw this when Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted and convicted Trump on 34 separate felonies related to federal campaign finance laws, in which his office did not have jurisdiction. Perversion of the law continues, unabated.

Without mutual respect and “staying in your lane,” the legislative, executive, and judicial branches cannot co-exist in a manner that the framers intended and will ultimately create a dysfunctional government. The Constitution must be adhered to. Laws must be respected and upheld. Each branch must allow the other to perform their constitutionally authorized duties, without obstruction from the other. This Constitutional Republic will fall if usurpation of authority becomes the norm. Joe Biden usurped the legislative branch’s authority when he forgave $Billions of student loans, even while acknowledging he had no authority to do so. He continued granting loan forgiveness even after the Supreme Court ruled his actions unconstitutional. This cannot become a precedent lest our nation be plunged into an executive branch anarchy, establishing an unrestrained and authoritarian Presidential office.

Radical left-wing judges continue to “order” presidential actions to cease and desist the enforcement of lawful executive orders. This radicalization of judicial actions is not limited to federal judges. In Wisconsin, a circuit judge in a liberal county, overturned Act 10, a law upheld by the Wisconsin Supreme Court a decade ago. Not only did this judge lack jurisdiction, the “new” liberal majority of the Wisconsin Supreme Court accepted the case and will re-rule on the constitutionality of the law. On April 1^st Wisconsin will elect a new Supreme Court Justice and either the liberals will maintain their 4-3 majority or conservatives will regain the majority after the ballots are tabulated. Even if the conservative prevails, the liberal majority will move to strike down Act 10, which turned a $3.5 Billion deficit into a $4 Billion surplus, before a new conservative justice is seated. Partisanship run amok!

The last Wisconsin Supreme Court race saw tens of millions of democrat dollars poured into the coffers of the democrat’s chosen candidate, uber-lefty Janet Protasiewicz. She prevailed in the election, even after declaring Act 10 unconstitutional, Wisconsin’s district maps unfair, criticized voter ID, and stated that she would overturn Wisconsin’s abortion law. Yet, she is now seated on the state’s highest court! If the democrat’s chosen candidate, Susan Crawford, an uber-lefty judge from Dane County, is elected as Supreme Court Justice, insanity from the bench will overcome Wisconsin. Brad Schimel, the conservative in the race, will restore some semblance of rationality to the court. Although Crawford’s ads accuse Schimel of failing to address the backlog of sexual assault kits, Schimel, as Wisconsin Attorney General, instituted a policy that identified and completed the vast majority of all untested rape kits he inherited after he was elected. Democrat carpetbagger AG Josh Kaul ignores his duties to defend Wisconsinites while he chases down lawsuits, many of no benefit to Wisconsin, some where he lacks jurisdiction or standing, with the intent to derail President Trump’s agenda.

Partisanship from the bench, overwhelmingly initiated by radical leftists appointed by democrats, needs to end yesterday. Our nation cannot withstand the judicial assault on our Constitution. We are spiraling down a rabbit hole that leads to the destruction of the rule of law, the very thing that holds the fabric of society together.

Humans were created by a perfect God. Unfortunately, humans are far from that perfection. God created a paradise for Adam and Eve to live and walk with Him for eternity. God gave them full autonomy in the garden with only one single prohibition, to not eat the fruit of the tree of life. But Adam and Eve disobeyed, leading to the fall. Ever since that fall, humans have engaged in all manner of depravity. Creation was once perfect and humans defiled it, and to this day we continue to corrupt our world with our ever-increasing immorality. Money, power, and sex is what drive far too many of us human beings, especially those who rise to positions of authority. The framers of this once great nation created a Constitutional Republic ruled by “We the people,” not by royals who ruled by fiat. Today, “public servants” are far too concerned with their self-interests, their benefactors, and advancing their personal agendas, while disregarding the needs of their constituents. The “Swamp,” which consists of lobbyists, Deep State bureaucrats, and corporate interests is pervasive. Elected politicians enrich themselves and their families when they toe the company line and do as they are told.

Do you really think that the Bidens are the only politicians that are or have engaged in unethical and illegal schemes? Corruption by our “leaders” is so pervasive and so many, elected and unelected, are so deeply involved, that should their illicit activities be brought to light, many would be facing jail time. (see Senator Robert Menendez D-NJ) There is good reason that anytime an outsider is elected, every effort is made to turn them to the dark side. Everyone must be on the same page for this to work. Should those efforts fail to convince, the swamp mobilizes and attacks, using the media and deep state to delegitimize with lies and false accusations. (see Representatives Madison Cawthorn R-NC, George Santos R-NY, and any other representative shining a light on the darkness of the swamp) There is good reason that Democrats and Republicans have employed every tool to prevent Donald Trump from regaining the White House. Should he return to the Oval Office, he would begin to expose the rot in our government. Heads would roll. The gravy train is running much too smoothly for it to be run off the rails by a President who already has accumulated more than enough wealth, leaving him impervious to the lure of easy money. In fact, President Trump saw his net worth decrease by more than $I billion during his term. I’m sorry, but if you want a kinder and gentler President, you will only get what you deserve, another swamp dweller with more of the same.

Whistleblower laws were enacted to protect those who expose corruption in government, yet Democrats in Congress attempt to discredit them and partisan bureaucrats persecute them. Two separate impeachment hearings and trials take place targeting President Trump, bypassing any impeachment inquiry to discover all facts. While neither impeachment attempts were later found to have any credibility, the damage was done. president Biden’s son, Hunter, and brother, James, spearhead a convoluted influence-peddling scheme. Nothing to see here according to the Democrats and an impeachment inquiry is partisanship run amok. Evidence from the January 6^th committee is destroyed, even though a myriad of federal laws are broken. Cue the crickets from the mainstream media. Hunter Biden defies a Congressional subpoena, abetted by Representative Eric Swalwell, D-CA and Democrats cheer. Circle the wagons and deflect blame is the Democrat way. Dick Durbin (D-IL) refuses to release the names of those who took the “Lolita Express” to Jeffrey Epstein’s Island paradise. Gotta protect their own you know. Loose lips will sink ships and far too many of your elected officials have engaged in inappropriate behavior. As each misdeed is exposed, the risk is that more and more will be exposed for the liars and cheats that they are.

Serving on the Washington County, WI Board of Supervisors for ten years, the last four as Chairman, I know from where I speak. There are too few, even in local government, that gain office without a personal agenda. There are too few who retain the humility that facilitated their election victories. There are too few that do not look to use their “power” to their advantage. Human nature far too often rears its ugly head and those public servants begin to think that they are better than the great unwashed masses they are called to represent. If our government continues on this path, we are doomed to ruin. Unengaged citizens who mindlessly vote “D” or “R” are exactly what the deep state depends upon. Uninformed voters and those citizens who fail to cast their ballots signal that they are willing to let the swamp do as they please. Apathy breeds corruption, and far too many of us are satisfied with ceding authority to those who exploit our trust and use authority to their own benefit. It’s always easier to stand by idly and let others do the heavy lifting. After all, we are all much too busy with our own lives. Your nation is falling down the rat hole and if you think protecting your quality of life in a free and fair country is too much to ask, you will get what you deserve.

Blinded by Darkness

 

Bruce Springsteen originally wrote and recorded the song, “Blinded by the Light” in 1973. In a guest opinion piece published in the West Bend Daily News on January 9th, it would appear that Waring Fincke, and his all too apparent burning hatred of President Donald Trump and all things conservative, has fallen victim to a blinding darkness. Now that the special election in Georgia has consolidated the government power into the hands of the democrat party, Fincke revels in expectations of his vision of a return to the normalcy he so desires. In other words, ousting President Trump and delegitimizing conservatism by any means necessary.

First of all, I want to express condemnation for the ugly scene at the Capitol on January 6^th. Each and every rioter must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Anyone who breached and entered the Capitol must turn themselves in to the authorities. Conservatives are to respect authority and abide by the rule of law. Those who do not are not conservatives at all. They are no better than Antifa thugs.

In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. led a march to Washington DC, where he gave his, “I have a dream” speech. In it he said, “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protests to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.” Dr. King emphasized non-violent means to protest injustices.

On January 6^th, 2020, President Trump held a rally in Washington DC where he spoke to a crowd of supporters prior to the certification of Joe Biden’s election as President. He spoke of his belief that pervasive fraud affected the outcome of the election. He is accused of provoking the assault on the Capitol by inciting an insurrection. From the text of his speech, “We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” Is there convincing evidence that this rhetoric falls under the definition of incitement of insurrection? It does not. Unfortunately, Fincke devolves into broad accusations without citing any specifics, simply uttering general and vague claims. One wonders if Fincke even took the time to read the transcript of the speech.

I will refrain from describing the riots and attacks on Federal buildings by BLM and Antifa, that some have cited to somehow lessen the severity of the criminal actions that took place at the Capitol. Two wrongs do not make a right. The hyper-partisanship Fincke displays is exactly what is wrong with our society. If we disagree, we need not hate each other. But that has become the norm. The second most important commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. (no matter their politics) There is no skin color in the eyes of our God. We are all his children. That makes us all brothers and sisters. To God, everyone matters, everyone is loved, no matter what we have done or failed to do. Instead of promoting hatred and revenge, we should be trying to heal our nation.

Instead of another exercise in unfounded impeachment theatre, cooler heads should prevail. Hatred and divisiveness will eventually lead to the fall of our Republic, especially if we allow them to continue to grow and fester. President Biden has the opportunity to take the moral high ground and put an end to this witch hunt. He said that he ran to heal our nation and put an end to the divisiveness he attributed to President Trump. He said that he will represent all Americans, even those who did not vote for him. Now is the opportunity. Will he choose to lead, or will he decide to punish his perceived enemies, that might just happen to include roughly one-half of our nation. I for one pray that he chooses wisely.
